There are two (2) 1/2” NPT female welded coupling fittings:

- The cook chamber temperature gage fitting, and
- The sear shelf temperature gage fitting.
The required stem lengths for the cook chamber and sear shelf is 3 inches and 4 inches respectively. (The stem of the sear shelf gage is protected within a heavy wall pipe) WoodFireGrille recommends only Professional quality gages with Stainless Steel stems and housings with glass lenses that are hermetically sealed. Large 3-inch face dials with colored cooking zones make for easy and accurate temperature reading and control. Glow dials for nighttime use are also attractive and practical.
Many of the professional grades can be calibrated for exact temperatures. Midwest Hearth, LavaLock®, River Country, and Tel-Tru® are all professional grade brands that meet the above standards and can be purchased on-line.
- WoodFiredGrilles preferred choices for the cook chamber and the sear shelf gages are a Tel-Tru® 100/500 degree F gage with a 3 inch stem for the cook chamber and a Tel-Tru® 200/1000 degree F gage with a 4 inch stem for the firebox.
